Refurbishment and extension of single family house. The brief was clear, concise and challenging: The house must suit the needs for the next 30 years, flexible, energy efficient, bathed in abundant daylight, have a close relationship with the garden and allow for a lot of people to meet and live without being on each other’s toes. Besides enhanced thermal insulation and efficient equipment, the design focussed on opening, linking and closing spaces into a variety of ambiences, lights and shadows.
